Explorer Map OL26 - North York Moors (Western Area)

The walk starts from a car parking area (Sheepwash)to the North of Osmotherley. It can be surprisingly busy parking here, as the car park is close to the Cod Beck Reservoir, - a popular recreation spot. Do not be tempted to park on adjacent grass verges, as this is a hazard to traffic and can incur fines.
Osmotherley itself has nowadays become crowded as regards road traffic and parking in the village can be difficult.
The walk itself is easy to navigate, following clear tracks and footpaths all the way.
There is a modest amount of climbing (and descending), with Scarth Wood Moor involving an ascent of about 500ft.

A map of the route followed has been plotted on the Ordnance Survey mapping website, By selecting the ink below you will be taken to this map, - complete with distances and heights marked on the route.
