Explorer Map OLS30, - Yorkshire Dales (North)

This walk starts and ends at the Dales car park at Aysgarth Falls.
The route basically follows the River Ure to Redmire Force, using well-defined footpaths and tracks.
There is modest amount of ascending and descending along the route.
The walk provides some superb views of this part of Wensleydale.

Park in the Dales car park for Aysgarth Falls (SE011 877). Fee payable.
Take the path down to bridge where the road crosses the River Ure. Care need on this bridge, as the road is narrow.
Almost directly ahead, having crossed the bridge, is a footpath through buildings of the old mill that brings you to St. Andrew's Church. The footpath rises fairly steeply, and steps aid your ascent.
Just past the church itself, turn sharp left and follow the footpath almost due East. This footpath is well marked and runs above the River Ure.
Most of the time you will hear the river, as it is hidden by trees, but at one point the footpath descends to the river itself.
Continue on the footpath to reach to A684 main road.
Care is needed at this point, as the road can be quite busy and it is very narrow.
Continue Eastwards and cross the bridge. Almost immediately, take the field footpath North Eastwards and follow this footpath all the way to Redmire Force.
(Near Redmire Force the footpath appears to follow a field wall. However, at the final wall stile, the correct footpath veers away from the field wall and heads to a small gate that leads to steps down to Redmire Force.)
Return along the footpath to where the stepping stones cross the river.
At this point there is a field lane (Stony Loop Lane) which takes you to the A684 road. From there it is a short walk to rejoin the riverside footpath back to Aysgarth Falls.
