These memorial plaques in St. Brandon's Church are for Officers of the Durham Light Infantry (the nearby Castle was the Regimental Depot in the second part of the 20th Century). One of the Officers commemorated was a Lieutenant who was killed at Battle Hilll, Barnard Castle, in July 1943. Intriguing.
