The Churchyard of St. Hilda's, Danby, is quite remarkable. There are hundreds of 18th and 19th Century headstones, all in good order. The headstone on the left was especially poignant.
"ERECTED In Memory of Joseph Rudd who departed this Life the 12th Day of August in 1765. Aged 29 Years.
O Cruel Death That did no warning Give / To take my Husband And leave me to Grieve /I hope in Time I shall my tears Refrain / To think with Joy That we shall meet again."
