Outdoor Leisure Map OL26, - North York Moors (Western Area)

Choose a day when the visibility is good and the sun is out, and this will be a totally rewarding walk.
The walk is described in two parts, stopping at the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre for a picnic lunch (or using the cafe) before continuing. However, either of the two described sections can be used if a shorter walk is required.
Navigation is very straightforward, and there are no gradients od any particular difficulty.
The only point to watch out for is that the National Parks Authority have laid out cycle trails alongside footpaths. The cycle trails look to be very inviting to use, as they have a good surface. But beware, - the cyclists travel fast and have the right of way.

Memory Map
For a Memory Map overlay of the walk described, please select the above link.
(Overlay made with Version 5 of Memory Map)

Some new mapping software is now available which you may want to try, - QUO mapping. You can download the software for free from the link below, complete with demonstration maps. Having installed QUO, you can import and export Memory Map overlays. Thus YOU DON'T NEED Memory Map to use any of the overlays provided on the Grey Panthers web site, - just use QUO!!

Cross over the road that runs Northwards beside the Visitor Centre and take the footpath through the Hambleton Plantation towards Hambleton House.
At Hambleton House continue along the bridleway to Dialstone Farm.

Here a track heads West to Boltby Scar.

Continue on this track until it emerges at Low Town Bank Road. Follow the road Northwards past the Gliding Club until it emerges again at the A170.
Cross the A170 and take the Forestry track Northwards until you meet the footpath that takes you back to the Visitor Centre.
