The "Jan V" from St. John's, Newfoundland, leaving Seaham Harbour. The ship gave a loud blast on its horn (there was a small yacht ahead of it) which caused several hundred seagulls to take to the air. Up to then, they had been resting peacefully on a harbour wall.
