A view of Blast beach and Nose's Point, Seaham. The beach is named after the blast furnaces that used to operate nearby. Also nearby was Dawdon Colliery, which only closed in 1991. The beach used to be an example of something almost destroyed by pollution. Now it is an example of nature reclaiming its own.
