Hamsterley Forest is an excellent choice for walking when the weather isn't too good, - as well as when it is excellent! On this walk, there was a high wind, and the Forest provided some refuge from the worst effects of this.

The start of the walk was from the Grove, 065297.
Take the track that heads West South-West from behind the Grove, to King's Crag and Neighbour Moor.
At the junction 026285 take the South Easterly track to the Pennington Plantation.
Frank Lockwood's bench can be found at 037276.
Continue on the track to the Tinker Hills Plantation, to continue alongside the Spurlswood Beck back to the Grove.
